How did you first come up with the idea to stream your shows?
Nobody was doing it, and since some people can't afford to see me overseas and in the US or I don't travel to their part of world, I figured this is a way to give fans more access to see my show. And I am the FIRST one to do it, once again the first. I'm the first one doing something like this and now everybody will be following me.
Is it just a basic webcam set-up? What's the audio/video quality like?
The initial set up was with my laptop's already installed camera but then I spilled Mezcal [Felix's favorite tequila] on the laptop so I had to get an external camera. I bought a cheap external camera in Belgium, which is crap. I am trying to find a good one now that is compatible for justintv. The Mezcal is still in my computer, under the screen and not completely dried up yet so my laptop is still messed up from the spill.
I hear you've been giving shout outs to members of your chat room over the mic...
Yes I type to my "justinboppers" and ask them what song they want to hear and I play them during my set. So for like 25 minutes of my set I do this and they be going crazy on the message boards with their requests and when I give them shoutouts.
Does the chat room not distract you from the DJing job in hand?
Not at all! They be cracking me up and getting me pumped. I pick up the mic and give them shoutouts because I be watching how crazy the message boards are with their comments. I can't multitask in most of the other areas of my life but get me in the booth with my Mezcal and I am a multitasker at their best!
